Wohnen Morgen, Hollabrunn

‘Where will we end up if people decide everything themselves?’ Franz Kuzmich recalls reservations about the participatory process of Wohnen Morgen, whose declared aim was to transfer the freedom of choice in single-family homes to multi-storey housing. This building was designed following a participatory process with future residents by Ottokar Uhl and its collaborator Franz Kuzmich in 1973 as a flexible structural framework allowing users to make decisions about the layout, materials, and expansion of their homes over time.

The film contrasts everyday life in the house with the story of how this experimental building in the Austrian suburb came about.

A film by Amelie Schmitz, Max Schröder, Eric Groefke, Marius Helten, Leonard Wertgen, Jens Franke, Florian Fischer-Almannai.
